How to Get Healthy - The Lazy Way

You know when you want to get fit and healthy, and you know what to improve your fitness, but you don't want to do all the things to get you there? I feel that, too. There’s nothing fun about constant exercise unless it’s something you enjoy. There’s nothing fun about being under the mistaken impression that you have to give up all of your favourite foods just to be healthy, either.

You may not have the time to fit in the gym. You may not have the concentration to track every single calorie. The good news is that you don't have to pound it in the gym six days a week and you can still eat well without counting any calories at all. You can equip yourself with pilates mats and attend a twice-weekly class and still feel good on the inside. You can also follow the tips below to get to the optimum health for you - the lazy way.

1. Drink More Water

The very first thing to do if you want to start getting healthier is to drink more water than you usually drink. The easiest way to make a big impact with minimum outlay is to ensure that you are drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

2. Get Walking

Even if you can’t find time for cardio classes, you might have the time to go for a walk as it can be amazing cardio. To elevate your walking workout and burn extra calories, you can walk a little faster, take the stairs, use your arms and power walk everywhere. The most important thing is getting your heart rate up.

3. Stretch Every Day

While you are in your pilates classes, you’re stretching and moving slowly and deliberately to work your body. You don't need to seize your muscles every time you power walk, so make sure that you are stretching those muscles every morning and before you go to bed.

4. Learn to Breathe Deeply

Learning to breathe may seem ridiculous given that you do this every single day anyway, but you need to learn to breathe deeply. You would be surprised how often people just aren't taking deep enough breaths. Tensing your stomach muscles by breathing in will correct bad posture and strengthen your core - it’s worth giving it a go!

5. Utilize your Stairs as Much as Possible!

The stairs in your home are the perfect cardio machine and you can run up them to get to bed - perfection!

6. Be Mindful When you’re Eating.

Start to pay attention to portion size. Sometimes, if we have a big portion of food in front of us, we will continue eating even when we’re full. Of course you should honor your hunger; however, maybe you want to resist the urge to continue to eat when you are truly full. Eat slowly and pay attention to your body. Be mindful of your snacks and choose ones that you truly want to eat rather than things that you think that you should all the time. You can really see a difference in your relationship with food when you do this!
